Real Projects. Real Stories. real Outcomes.

Over the past few years, I've had the privilege of working on some wonderful projects - from kitchens and bathrooms to butcher shops and everything in between. Every project has been different, but they've all started the same way - by understanding the challenge, exploring the opportunities and creating a clear plan before moving forward.

The projects below share more than just the finished design. They tell the story behind each project, the thinking that shaped it and the better outcomes that thoughtful planning made possible.

Living Room Update

The Challenge

The homeowners love the character and generous proportions of their home, but the living room felt unfinished and lacked the warmth, personality and sense of balance they were hoping for. Although the room has great bones, the furniture was undersized for the scale of the space, leaving it feeling disconnected and out of proportion.

The Opportunity

Rather than making structural changes, we focused on making better use of what was already there. By introducing larger-scale furniture, creating a statement fireplace, incorporating custom joinery, and layering colour, texture and traditional detailing, we transformed the space into a home that feels warm, welcoming and full of personality.

The Outcome

  • Created a warm, welcoming living room full of personality.
  • Improved the room's balance and proportion through carefully considered furniture selection and space planning.
  • Introduced a vintage brick fireplace as a statement feature and natural focal point.
  • Designed a custom joinery unit that brings balance to the expansive wall while adding generous storage.
  • Layered colour, texture and traditional detailing to create a timeless vintage-inspired aesthetic.

Beach House Bathroom Refresh

The Challenge

The homeowners wanted to create a functional family bathroom that comfortably accommodated a walk-in shower, bath, vanity and toilet within a relatively compact space, all while working within a realistic budget. Based in Ballarat, they also wanted confidence that their vision would be clearly understood and carried through by the trades on site.

The Opportunity

By refining the layout and making thoughtful material selections, we were able to create a bathroom that balanced functionality, style and cost. Introducing VJ panelling alongside feature tiling reduced installation costs while adding warmth, texture and visual interest, allowing the feature tile to become the hero of the space.

Detailed 3D visualisations  provided a clear reference for both the homeowners and their trades, helping everyone understand the design intent and reducing uncertainty throughout the build.

The Outcome

  • Refined the layout to comfortably accommodate a walk-in shower, bath, vanity and toilet.
  • Reduced construction costs through thoughtful material selections, including the use of VJ panelling.
  • Created a layered design where the feature tile became the focal point of the space.
  • Provided realistic 3D visualisations that gave both the homeowners and trades confidence throughout the build.
  • Delivered a practical, timeless bathroom that balanced budget, functionality and style.

Japanese‑Inspired Storage Design

The Challenge

The homeowners wanted help creating a home that felt calm, cohesive and better organised while reflecting their love of Japanese-inspired design. They needed more storage, guidance with furniture placement, colours and styling, but were drawn to the idea of standalone furniture rather than built-in cabinetry.

The challenge was finding a solution that provided the level of storage they needed without compromising the warmth, character and openness of their home.

The Opportunity

During our initial consultation, it quickly became clear that storage was the key to unlocking the home's full potential. Rather than relying on freestanding furniture, we designed a series of custom joinery solutions inspired by Japanese design principles that blended seamlessly into the home.

Every element was carefully considered to provide practical, easy-to-access storage while maintaining the flow, balance and character of each space.

Hidden storage, multifunctional joinery and thoughtful detailing allowed everyday items to disappear from view, creating a home that feels calmer, more organised and intentionally designed.

The Outcome

  • Created custom joinery tailored to the family's everyday storage needs.
  • Integrated Japanese-inspired detailing that feels warm, timeless and cohesive.
  • Concealed everyday clutter through clever hidden and multifunctional storage solutions.
  • Improved functionality without compromising the home's flow, openness or character.
  • Delivered a calm, organised home where every item has a considered place.Created custom joinery solutions tailored to each space throughout the home.

Kitchen Redesign & Walk-In Pantry

The Challenge

The homeowners wanted a walk-in pantry but believed extending into the adjoining bathroom was the best way to achieve it. While this would have created the pantry they were looking for, it would have increased the scope of works, added unnecessary building costs and left them with a kitchen that still wasn't making the best use of the available space.

The Opportunity

By stepping back and re-evaluating the existing kitchen layout, we identified an opportunity to create a true walk-in pantry within the existing footprint. Rather than simply achieving one goal, this approach transformed the entire kitchen -improving the layout, functionality and flow while allowing the renovation budget to be invested where it delivered the greatest overall value.

The Outcome

  • Created a true walk-in pantry within the existing kitchen footprint.
  • Eliminated unnecessary structural work by making better use of the existing layout.
  • Improved storage, workflow and everyday functionality.
  • Prioritised the renovation budget where it delivered the greatest impact.
  • Delivered a practical kitchen designed around the family's lifestyle.

Kitchenette Refresh

The Challenge

The homeowner wanted to refresh the kitchenette in her unique Airbnb, creating a space that felt warmer, more inviting and better suited to the character of the home. While the existing layout worked well, the finishes felt dated and lacked the warmth and personality she wanted.

The Opportunity

Rather than reinventing the space, we focused on refining what was already working. By retaining the existing footprint, introducing integrated appliances, improving storage and selecting a soft, neutral palette with warm timber accents and a recycled concrete benchtop, we created a kitchenette that feels fresh, functional and full of character.

The Outcome

  • Retained the existing layout while modernising the kitchenette.
  • Introduced integrated appliances and improved storage for a cleaner, more functional space.
  • Selected a warm, neutral material palette that feels timeless without being predictable.
  • Incorporated a recycled concrete benchtop and timber accents to add texture and character.
  • Delivered a refreshed kitchenette that complements the unique charm of the Airbnb.

Proposed New Butcher Shop Design

The challenge

After successfully redesigning their existing store, Ned approached us again when considering a second location. Before committing to the lease, he wanted confidence that the space would support the way they worked, accommodate their equipment and deliver the customer experience he envisioned.

The challenge wasn't simply designing a new store - it was ensuring the space was commercially viable before making a significant business investment.

The Opportunity

Before committing to the tenancy, we explored how the space could function in practice. By testing different layouts, planning the location of display cabinets, refrigeration, service counters and customer circulation, we were able to confirm the space would comfortably support both staff workflow and the customer experience.

The Outcome

  • Tested the suitability of the space before committing to a commercial lease.
  • Confirmed the store could comfortably accommodate the required equipment and operational workflow.
  • Optimised customer circulation to create a simple, intuitive shopping experience.
  • Maintained consistency with the Sinclair Meats brand through considered colours, materials and finishes.
  • Provided the confidence to move forward with a clear concept before investing in detailed design and construction.:

Bathroom Update

The Challenge

The homeowner wanted to refresh her bathroom while working within the existing footprint and a realistic budget. After exploring online bathroom concepts, colour palettes and AI-generated ideas, she realised that while they provided inspiration, they weren't translating into a design that truly suited her home, space or lifestyle.

The Opportunity

Rather than making major structural changes, we focused on refining the existing layout and selecting finishes that complemented both the space and the home. By introducing a larger walk-in shower, designing a custom vanity and incorporating VJ panelling, we were able to add warmth, texture and functionality while maintaining the home's country charm.

The Outcome

  • Refreshed the bathroom without the need for major structural changes.
  • Introduced a larger walk-in shower to improve comfort and functionality.
  • Designed a custom vanity that made better use of the available space.
  • Layered warm finishes, VJ panelling and natural textures to create a timeless country-inspired bathroom.
  • Provided realistic 3D visualisations that gave the homeowner confidence before committing to the renovation.:

Competition Winner

The Challenge

The homeowners wanted to modernise their kitchen without changing its overall footprint. While the existing U-shaped layout worked well, the oversized corner pantry made the space feel dated and limited both functionality and visual flow.

The Opportunity

Rather than starting from scratch, we focused on making smarter use of the existing layout. By removing the bulky corner pantry and introducing a dedicated pantry and appliance zone, we were able to create a kitchen that felt more open, organised and contemporary while maintaining practical storage.

The Outcome

  • Retained the existing U-shaped layout while improving functionality.
  • Replaced the outdated corner pantry with a dedicated pantry and appliance zone.
  • Opened the kitchen visually through cleaner cabinetry and a more efficient layout.
  • Updated the finishes with a calm, contemporary palette balanced by warm timber accents.
  • Provided concept plans and realistic 3D visualisations to support confident decision-making.

Complete Joinery Package

The Challenge

The homeowner had a clear vision for the joinery throughout her new home but needed a way to translate those ideas into practical, buildable concepts. Working alongside the cabinet maker, the goal was to refine the joinery design and provide clear documentation that could be confidently priced, quoted and constructed.

The Opportunity

Working collaboratively with both the homeowner and cabinet maker, we refined the joinery layouts, explored practical improvements and developed a complete set of concept plans and 3D visualisations. This allowed everyone involved to clearly understand the design intent before moving into pricing and construction, creating a smoother and more efficient design process.

The Outcome

  • Translated the homeowner's ideas into practical, buildable joinery concepts.
  • Refined cabinetry layouts to improve functionality and everyday use.
  • Produced detailed concept plans to support accurate quoting and construction.
  • Created realistic 3D visualisations that gave both the homeowner and cabinet maker confidence in the final design.
  • Delivered a clear design direction before manufacturing commenced.

Bathroom, Powder Room & Laundry Edit

The challenge

The homeowners wanted to refresh their bathroom, powder room and laundry without making major structural changes. While the layouts already worked well, the spaces lacked personality, warmth and cohesion, and the laundry in particular wasn't making the best use of the available space.

The Opportunity

Rather than changing the layout, we focused on introducing colour, texture and thoughtful detailing to completely transform the feel of each space. VJ panelling, artisan floor tiles, warm timber accents and carefully selected fixtures created a cohesive palette that respected the character of the home while adding warmth and personality.

The Outcome

  • Refreshed three wet areas without the need for major structural changes.
  • Created a cohesive design that connects the bathroom, powder room and laundry.
  • Improved the functionality of the laundry with a more efficient layout and dedicated pet-friendly features.
  • Introduced artisan tiles, VJ panelling and warm timber accents to add character and depth.
  • Delivered bright, welcoming spaces that feel practical, timeless and full of personality.

"Consistency doesn't mean every room should look the same -it means every room should feel like it belongs."

"We’ve now worked with Simone from Creative Interior Solutions twice, and honestly, we wouldn’t go anywhere else.
She helped us design our main bathroom, powder room and laundry, and made what could have been a stressful process feel easy and even enjoyable. Simone just gets it - she has a great eye for colour, materials and finishes, and knows how to pull everything together so the spaces feel cohesive and really well thought out.

Kitchen and Dining Solution

The Challenge

The homeowners were renovating a charming miner's cottage and needed a compact space to function as both a kitchen and dining area. With a limited footprint and no room for a traditional island or dining table, the challenge was creating a layout that could adapt to the way they lived without making the space feel cramped.

The Opportunity

Rather than designing around a fixed layout, we explored a more flexible solution. A custom moveable island on castors, complete with space for  seating and fold-down ends, allowed the space to transform depending on the task - from food preparation and casual dining to entertaining family and friends.

The Outcome

  • Designed a flexible kitchen that comfortably functions as both a cooking and dining space.
  • Created a custom moveable island that adapts to different everyday uses.
  • Maximised functionality within a compact footprint without compromising openness.
  • Maintained the warmth and character of the original miner's cottage through considered materials and detailing.
  • Delivered a practical, multi-purpose space that works harder than its size suggests.
